Recently, through missions trips and a trip back home, I’ve re-realized the urgency of the gospel. And i’m afraid that the urgency of the gospel is not something we talk about very often. but we should! so why don’t we?
Is the gospel real to you? have you seen and heard and touched the gospel? is it real to you? if it is… it must also be urgent to you. It’s like an urgent news. People need to hear this news!
If the gospel is real to you but still not urgent, maybe we are too comfortable. you see, we cry out to God when we are in need. When we are suffering or being tested, we cry out to God. God is never more real to us than when we are in need. but when we are comfortable. when things are going our way… we live as if God is not even real to us!
are you too comfortable?
The writer of our passage says that sharing this gospel which they have heard and seen is the completion of their joy. the gospel is not only urgent but it is a necessity to share with those around us. Especially with those who do not know and believe in Christ. Its like having the best meal of your life. one could say that the experience is not complete until you have shared this great meal with someone by showing them a picture or telling them about the experience.
Unless we share the gospel which gives us life and meaning, we have not completed the joy that it brings us.
So let us be a generation that share the gospel urgently! knowing that it will complete our joy!
