Ball of ConfusionBall of Confusion When we see that the most often played in British funeral services is "My Way" by Frank Sinatra, I guess a lot of people want to convey the message that even though they didn’t live the perfect life, they lived it uniquely, and in the best they can. Ironically, during the period of the judges we see that living it "my way" was causing chaos and calamity. Everyone was worshipping idols and false gods, there was intense warfare and bloodshed between nations. Israel would often lose these battles, and they would be made captive to their neighbors. The people of Israel would repent, then God would send a judge to rescue them, but sometimes even the judges were not morally and religiously upright. And later the people fell into sin again. This was a time of chaos and confusion. The last verse of Judges 21:25 - In those days there was no king in Israel. Everyone did what was right in his own eyes. When we live “my way” a ball of confusion occurs in our lives wherein we live how we want, then we experience emptiness and guilt, then cry out to God in the middle of a sermon or retreat for forgiveness and you experience God’s grace, but when we get back home, we start all over again. Choosing the right leader won't solve this issue. Just think of the upcoming November elections. The ball of confusion can only be solved by a perfect King who is perfectly obedient. A King that would come into our lives, our hearts, and our minds to live according to God’s way and not my way! This is why we cry out, Lord Jesus, come! Maranatha!
