Sermon Passage: Colossians 3:1-4 Sermon Title: Christ is Life Sermon By: Pastor Davy (Youth) Sermon Summary: In light of the World Cup, we’re reminded of the fact that our identity really is found in what we think about and what we care about rather than where our passports are issued. Though we are both Korean and American, a lot of us find our identity in Korean culture and especially during the World Cup, we cheer for and support our motherland. It’s in this sense that we, though we are on earth, need to find our identity in things that are above. We are heavenly citizens found in Christ. Our identity is found in Christ. Christ is Life and our lives are in heaven. Paul commands that we seek and desire this heavenly identity. We seek this identity through daily commitment to who Christ is. We also desire and think about the things that are above. And the question becomes, how much of our time do we spend thinking and seeking things that are above? Don’t we use most/majority of our time seeking things that are on earth? and this is exactly what Paul is warning us against. If Christ is life, we need to think about Christ a bit more than we do now. but what Paul is saying isn’t that Christ is only the giver of life or the creator or author of life. Paul directly says that Christ is YOUR life. and this is why we need to, individually and consistently, seek and set our minds on things that are above. Because Christ is MY life, I seek heaven and think of heaven. Because Christ is MY life, I believe in the truth that my life will appear with Christ at the end of days.
