Sermon Outline:

1. Work is not the purpose of life
   1. “Does the will of my father”
      1. What is this/His will?
         1. We were not created as a labor force because God is in need of one - If you think God needs you in His plan, think again
         2. Focus too much on what we do (action and work) rather than how we will do it
      2. If you do not know or understand God’s heart, you cannot help but sin and thus “workers of lawlessness”
         1. Pharisees
   2. Misconception of “fruit”
      1. “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will recognize them by their fruits” (Matthew 7:15-16)
         1. Prophets doing good works would/should not tip off false prophets
         2. Prophets were told people weren't going to listen, but they were told to continue to minister
            1. Jeremiah 7:27 “So you shall speak all these words to them, but they will not listen to you. You shall call to them, but they will not answer you.
         3. Fruit of the Spirit is Godly character
            1. Again not to strive for, but that is a natural byproduct
2. Salvation is not the purpose of life (Self preservation)
   1. False teaching from: ‘Believe in Jesus and you will be saved’
      1. Belief in what?
         1. James 2:19 “You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe and shudder”
      2. You can know about Jesus, and have no relationship
         1. Wagyu - can have substitutes, and study day and night about it, but never taste and see
      3. Heaven and salvation would be pointless without a relationship
         1. “Came to my rescue”
            1. Until you know what you are being rescued from and for, salvation is meaningless
         2. If you could go to heaven and God was not there, would you want to be there?
   2. Salvation is granted to those who have communion and relations with God
      1. Communion and our broken relationship with God was restored on the day Jesus died
         1. He died that you might be saved, but so that we could have access to worship Him
3. We were made for worship (experiencing God in such a powerful way that it transforms us)
   1. Worship comes from experiencing God
      1. Song of Moses and Miriam (Exodus 15)
      2. Psalms - David’s worship book through experiencing and walking with God
   2. Look back to creation and God’s design
      1. Communion with God and work that was not toilsome from the beginning
      2. In love - commanding an action vs doing out of love and will
   3. He is the living God, and believe that one encounter and experience with Him is enough to change your life
      1. Sometimes we need to simply sit with God more and remove distractions and idols
         1. If you don’t accept your brokenness, be careful not to be a Saul
   4. Do not take the Holy Spirit for granted - Holiness of God and access to Him in us
      1. Ark of the covenant
      2. Holy of Holies in Tabernacle
      3. Moses would die
      4. Paul blinded
   5. Challenge and to spend time alone with God desperately asking for His presence
