Text: Mark 10:17-22 Title: What I Must Do Preached by: Pastor Samuel Summary: A man came up to Jesus and said 'Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?' Jesus replied that 'Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone.' By saying this, Jesus did not deny his deity. But he was trying to reveal that the man was using the word 'good' in a sense that Jesus is useful to him. The man was seeking eternal life which is good. However, his motive(heart) was wrong because he didn't care what God wants. His concern was only himself, so he was trying to make a deal with God. In this sense, his question 'what must I do' is same as 'how much is it' And this kind of mindset is the heart of religious pluralism, which does not care who god is as long as a god can meet the needs. This is the same tendency that we have. We come to God with very self-focused mind. We think and ask with human-centered heart. It is reflected in our worship-not worship with whole hearts, but judge the service, and in our life-we don't consider what God wants but we are trying to do for God. If we apply this to our life, we are not trying to focus what I can do or achieve for God in self-focused heart, but we are to search and learn the will of God. Apart from God's will, our achievement is meaningless. [Announcements] 1. Pray for those who are on mission trip (Urban missions) They will come back 14th of July (Sat.)
