[Summary]
When Jesus was followed by a huge number of people, he turned to them and said that they should hate their family members and their own lives if they want to be his disciples (v.26). Also, he added that they should carry their cross (v.27) and renounce all their possessions (v.33) in order to be his disciples. And Jesus did not literally mean that they should hate family, take the cross and give up everything. Rather, it is more like about the priority and the lordship in our life. He was teaching how much serious and how much strict their surrender to God should be. And by giving us two examples of calculation (one was building a tower and the other was engaging a war), Jesus was also making a point that surrendering to God is lucrative. However, in order for one to surrender fully, he should sit down and do the math, so that he can fully and totally submit himself to God. As growing in church, we tend to ignore the fact that we should surrender to God always. It is not a stage one can go through and move on after the justification. Instead, it is a continuous life style of a true believer. Therefore, Christians should think and talk more about surrender than salvation. This level of surrender is not just for pastors or for some devoted people, but it is for every Christian. So after surrender ourselves and received the justification, we should keep surrendering more aspects of our lives as we grow. And to do that, we need to start obeying the things we know already. We should start spending more time with God on purpose. [Announcements] 1. We had a meeting at the deacon Yoo's house at 5 pm for Youngseo who will go back to S. Korea in 10 days. 2.
